Personal Life of Winnie Harlow
Not much is known about Winnie Harlow’s personal life.
However, there is one very interesting fact about her changing her name to Winnie Harlow. In the words of Harlow herself, the name “Winnie” came from the famous bear “Winnie: The pooh” which also, was one of her favorites while growing up. As far as “Harlow” is concerned, initially, it was supposed to be Monroe from Marilyn Monroe whom she admired. However, it did not suit her liking. So, she opted to use Harlow from Jean Harlow who was Monroe’s career inspiration.
Harlow is also supposed to have a reputation to have dated some of the biggest names which include Lewis Hamilton, Wiz Khalifa, and more. Quite an illustrious dating history she has!
Career of Winnie Harlow
Harlow first came to notice when she starred in “Natural Me”, a music video by Shanon Boodram. Soon after, renowned model and host, Tyra Banks, found her on Instagram, and she subsequently participated in America’s Next Top Model. Harlow became the first Canadian on the show and made it to the finals. Unfortunately, she finished in sixth place. Little did she know, that it was just the beginning of a noteworthy career.
Following her exit from the show, she began her modeling career with the Spanish brand Desigual. 2015, was relatively engaging for her as she worked with the brand Ashish for London Fashion Week. She also starred in top-notch fashion magazines i-D and Dazed. This was not all. She went on to model for Italian giants Diesel and also made appearances in the Spanish and Italian versions of the magazine, Glamour.
She also starred in various other magazines including Cosmopolitan for their August and September issue.
2016 saw her entering the ad space with a commercial for beverage company Sprite and a campaign for Swarovski. It was in 2018 though that Winnie Harlow reached the absolute heights of success in her modeling career. She modeled in Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the highest platform that a model can walk on. It was in that same year that she attended her first-ever Met Gala.
She also entered the cosmetic space with one of the stalwarts of modeling, Kim Kardashian for their KKW X Winnie Collection, in 2019. She also signed contracts with Steve Madden and Puma.
