Personal Life of Shelley Long
Shelley Long and Ken Solomon were married in the early 1970s and divorced in a few years.
Shelley focused on her career for a brief period of time until Bruce Tyson, a securities broker in 1971, whom she met on a blind date was able to steal her heart. Both of them dated for a period of time and settled down in 1981.
In 1985, they had a daughter named Juliana Long Tyson. Their marriage lasted for some 23 years until they finally divorced in 2004.
It was a huge shock for the actress that almost lead to suicide but with sufficient help and therapy, she recovered eventually.
Her daughter Juliana married Ryan Kissick. They had a daughter named Josephine, born on April 16, 2019.
Career of Shelley Long
During her college days, she worked as a meal planner in her college and planned out the meals for the staff and students. It was a job often given to people who are responsible. Though she attended college for a short time, she had left a deep impression on her peers. She earned a few bucks from it to pay her bills. She was offered some roles in commercials.
Her career began with Second City, a famous theater troupe group, and worked as a comedian. In 1975, she hosted Sorting It Out for three years where she worked not only as a writer but also as a writer and co-producer and this brought her to fame and made her well known in the circle.
She got her first shot at the film with an important role in the 1980 drama film A Small Circle of Friends which depicts the life about three students of Harvard University involved in the deep waters of social unrest. She acted in a few movies like Caveman, M*A*S*H*, Night Shift, Losin’ It, and Irreconcilable Differences, for over a decade. Most of her movies were of the comedy genre and entertained the audience a lot and got her name known to the audience.
Her career took a better turn when she landed the lead role in Cheers, an American sitcom that was aired in 1982. The show was about a bar named “Cheers” at which the locals hit up to relax, drink and socialize. It depicted their daily life struggles and gateway from the stress and tension accumulated from daily lives. This show was a bit hit, Long’s role as Diane Chambers was much appreciated.
She left the sets of Cheers in 1987 because she wanted to take care of her then toddler daughter Juliana. For the next few years, she worked in comedy movies like Hello Again, The Money Pit, and Outrageous Fortune.
