Personal Life of Min Yoon-gi
Suga has had a bit rough with his health through the years but we are glad that he is doing well now. A few months after his debut in 2013, Suga was diagnosed with appendicitis and had to undergo surgery.
After BTS’ hit Dynamite, in November 2020, underwent an operation on his left shoulder. After which Suga announced that he would take a break from BTS’ activities for healing his body. That’s the reason why we got many of BTS’ Dynamite performances without Suga. But Suga resumed his activities in January 2021, stronger than ever.
Suga is currently single as per reports but he once revealed that he had a relationship in the second year of his middle school.
Career of Min Yoon-gi
As a teenager, when 13 Suga learned to write music and also about MIDI. From the beginning, Suga was inclined towards rapping, especially after listening to “Ragga Muffin” by Stony Skunk and Epik High.
Before joining Big Hit, Suga diligently worked at a part-time job at a studio when he was 17. Min Yoon-gi was active by the name Gloss as an underground rapper and also composed music. Sugar debuted as a rapper with BTS after training under Big Hit for about three years.
Suga said that he never intended to become an idol but a music producer, and in a BTS show, he said how Bang PD lied to him that he would be in a group like 1TYM, where there will be less dance and more rap.
But to Suga’s surprise, the group(BTS) he was selected for has some of the toughest moves compared to others on TV! Suga in a humorous tone said that Bang PD tricked him before he signed the contract, to which Bang PD replied sarcastically that Suga needs to practice dancing more to which Suga cutely replied,” I’ll do my best!”
Writing numerous songs and music for BTS, Suga is one of the most versatile musicians of the current generation.
Suga’s notable works include a solo for BTS’ Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1, EP, named “Intro: The Most Beautiful Moment in Life” which was released on April 17, 2015, and the second part of the EP also had an intro by Suga named “Intro: Never Mind” which was released on November 2015.
After a gap of five years, in 2020, Suga performed another introductory track for BTS for the album Map of the Soul: 7 titled “Interlude: Shadow”. This interlude discusses the popularity of BTS with some comparison of what Suga had dreamt about which also had an MV which showcases the battles of fame.
Some of Suga’s solo work in the band, BTS, include “First Love” for Wings album and “Trivia: Seesaw” for Love Yourself: Answer album.
In 2016, Suga released his free mixtape on SoundCloud. This album revealed Suga’s battles with social anxiety and depression.
2017 was eventful for Suga as he composed a song for Suran named “Wine”, which not just peaked on the Gaon Digital Chart in South Korea but also won an award in Melon Music Awards. Suga was also honored with the “Hot Trend Award” for the song.
Suga’s other work includes his rap on Lee So-ra’s single “Song Request” in 2019 which topped Gaon Digital Chart and Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart.
With Suga, Halsey released “Suga’s Interlude” from her album Manic. Epik High’s collaboration with Suga includes “Eternal Sunshine”.
2020 saw a collaboration between IU and Suga for the song ” Eight” which was a hit and even won an award.
In 2021, the nostalgic Samsung ringtone, “Over The Horizon” was remade by Suga 2021 and became one of the most loved versions of the ringtone.
An unexpected and wonderful collaboration happened between Suga and PSY for the song “That That” which was released on April 25, 2022.
