The great Bill Gates had stepped into this earth as William Henry Gates III, in Seattle, Washington, the U.S on October 28, 1955. His father was William H. Gates Sr. and his mother was Mary Maxwell Gates.
His father practiced law- having been quite prominent in his profession, and his mother was a teacher and one of the board of directors for First Interstate Banc System and United Way of America.
He has two sisters named Kristine (older) and Libby (younger).
He married the beautiful and classy- Melinda Gates on January 1, 1994. The the couple had three children together, named- Rory John, Jennifer Katharine, and Phoebe Adele.
They divorced on May 3, 2021, and they still hold the positions of chairman of the charitable Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates had transferred around $5.7 billion worth of shares in public companies to Melinda in divorce.
Career of Bill Gates
Bill Gates is popularly known for his revolution in the field of computer science and technology. At an age of as early as 13, he had started off with learning to code. He started helping at CCC during his school years with Paul Allen and a few others like Kent Evans- his best friend, and Ric Wieland.
During his school years, he coded a program to help out the traffic problem in Seattle, and that program was called “Traffic-O-Data” and coded the game which is popularly known as “Tic-tac-toe” for the public.
He joined Paul Allen at Honeywell as computer programmers in 1974 and thought of making their computer and henceforth Gates dropped out of Harvard to start their own company Microsoft in 1975,
Gates and his wife founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 to give back to society and make it a better place to live in.
In 2006, Gates along with his ex-wife and his close friend Warren Buffet performed The Giving Pledge where they with other billionaires pledged to donate half of their wealth to the charity and betterment of society.
In 2008, Bill Gates stepped down from his job at Microsoft for new business ventures and philanthropic works and stepped down officially as chairman in 2014.
He has founded several companies like BEN, Cascade Investment, bgC3, and Terra Power which aims at making peoples’ lives more comfortable and sustainable during his career.
