However, the journey did commence after a bit of a rocky start. Unfortunately, he didn’t have enough money to buy the train tickets that he required to go from his location to Ranchi for his personal interview.
As if his teacher was a messiah in disguise, his mathematics teacher, known as Mr. Saini came to his rescue. His teacher lent him an amount of Rs.500 during that time, which was a very huge amount, that said, it helped him to avail himself the opportunity for attending the interview.
He was indebted to his teacher because he certainly wouldn’t be what he now is without his teacher’s kindness during his times of dire need.
He kept his search on for about 30 years till he finally found his teacher and described his experience of meeting and thanking him as exceptional.
He then went on to pursue an Advanced Degree in Management from the Ivy League institute, Harvard. He lived in Boston till he completed his degree.

V. Vaidyanathan has a very undisclosed personal life. He likes to maintain some time and space away from the prying eyes of the media.
He has been known as a very dedicated family man throughout his life. His family keeps away from the limelight too.

His career started with him working as an employee in Citibank in the early 1990s. He worked there for around a decade.
In 1999, he later joined ICICI Bank as it was deciding to dabble in other spectrums like retail businesses, etc. He was handed the responsibility of carrying out all the quintessential tasks and building and setting the project up from the very ground.
His work has certainly been a major contributor to the towering moment that ICICI bank witnessed. He took it from the position of a DFI to an international bank.
That’s no small accomplishment since he did get promoted for the amazing work he did. When ICICI had a merger in 2002, he worked as the head of Retailing and Lending.
He has a major role in diversifying the reach of the bank. Under his guidance, around 1.3 trillion (rupees) of loans were registered with over 25 million customers, that too in 2007.
He was made the Executive Director in ICICI at the surprising age of 38. He later went on to become the MD and CEO of the life insurance branching of ICICI after a period of 3 years.
He has also led the ICICI home financing department. As well as he has been the representative in some major deals of ICICI, both national and international.
IDFC Bank and Capital first proclaimed a merger in 2018, of which Vaidyanathan was chosen to be the leader. He now enjoys the position of MD and CEO.
