Career of Usain Bolt
‘The Fastest Man Alive’ – Barry Allen may be the fastest speedster in the DC universe, but Usain Bolt holds that title on this earth.
Usain Bolt made his debut as a young sprinter in the CARIFTA Games 2011. He earned two silver medals in the events of 200m and 400m sprint runs. In the 2002 World Junior Championships, Usain bagged a gold medal and two silver medals. He was the youngest in the world to win a gold medal in a World Junior Championship event.
The mystery runner continued his career into professionalism with 2004’s version of the CARIFTA Games. He was crowned to be the Most Outstanding Athlete for the second time.
The introduction to his fairytale was hindered by frequent injuries. He had to withdraw from the 2005 World Championship due to an injury in his hamstring. He also missed the 2006 Commonwealth Games. But this was a minor setback for him. He returned as a king in the IAFF World Cup 2006 and bagged a silver medal, breaking his personal record.
It was in 2007 that Bolt started his ‘everyday work’ of breaking records. In the 100m sprint finals of the Jamaica Invitational, Bolt rose to be the second-fastest runner in the world, completing the race in just 9.76 seconds. But records are never safe if Usain Bolt is behind them. In the Reebok Grand Prix 2008, Usain Bolt finished the 100m race in 9.72 seconds and set a new world record.
Bolt’s unprecedented victory lap in the Olympics started with the Summer Olympics of 2008 in Beijing. He won three gold medals in 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay runs. Following another record-breaking sprint in the 2009 World Championship, he won the sprints in IAAF Diamond League.
Usain broke his record again in the 2012 Summer Olympics. Finishing the 100m run in 9.63 seconds and the 200m event in 19.32 seconds, he not only won two medals but also set an all-time Olympic record. He also played a major role in securing the first position for the 4x100m relay team of Jamaica.
In the following years, the Jamaican Legend had a partly smooth career with frequent injuries and breaking records. The Rio Olympics 2016 was the last time he competed in the Olympics and he intended to give it all for his country. He won the gold medal in the 100m sprint run, becoming the first one to win the event title in three simultaneous Olympics. He also won the 200m and 400m titles scoring a ‘triple triple’ in the Olympics for securing gold medals in 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events, in three consecutive versions of the Olympics.
