For schooling, he went to Handsworth junior school, then to Athelstan School till 12 & then to Brook school till he was 16 years.

He got to Rotherham college of arts & technology to study welding where he also pursued his interest in art. After exploring two other colleges he came back to Rotherham College, where he enrolled in a drama course.

After doing some college plays he got a scholarship to RADA in 1981.

Personal Life of Sean Bean

He married Ashley Moore, his 5th wife, in June 2017 before which he had married 4 times which were unsuccessful resulting in divorce.

His first wife was his secondary school girlfriend Debra James in 1981 & divorced in 1988. Later at RADA he met Melanie Hill & married her on 27 February 1990 with whom he had his two daughters, one in October 1987 & the other in September 1991 before they ended their 7-year-long relationship in a divorce in August 1997.

In the sets of Sharpe, he met Abigail Cruttenden & married on 22 November 1997. They had a daughter in November 1998 before divorcing in July 2000.

He is a father of three children Molly Bean, Evie Natasha Bean & Lorna Bean. He is also a grandfather with four grandchildren.

He dated Georgina Sutcliffe in 2006. They married in January 2008 & got separated on 21 December.

Career of Sean Bean

Bean’s journey in professional acting began after he graduated from the RADA in 1983. Later in the year, he debuted as Tybalt in the famous Shakespeare play Romeo & Juliet at Watermill Theater, Newbury. After becoming one of the members of the Royal Shakespeare Company he did roles in Romeo and Juliet, the Fair Maid of the West & A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

His idea of changing his real name Shaun Mark Bean to Sean bean was only to make it catchier.

His first film was Derek Jarman’s Carravagio (1986), opposite Tilda Swinton where he played Ranuccio Tomassoni. In 1988, he did War Requiem under the same director’s direction. After playing evil Dominic O’Brien in the Fifteen Streets he gained a committed fandom.

As someone coming from a non-filmy background, becoming an established actor in Britain television within a decade was not easy, but Bean became one with his immense efforts.

In 1990, he starred in Windprints as the journalist named Anton who examined the difficult problems of apartheid in South Africa.

He made his Hollywood appearance in 1992 with a villain role as an Irish Republican terrorist.

In 1996, his dream to play football for Sheffield United came true in reel life, thanks to the film ” When Saturday comes”, where he played Jimmy Muir’s role.
