Kerry Earnhardt wedded his wife René in the year 1999. They have been bestowed with a daughter, Kayla. Kerry has two sons, Jeffery and Bobby, while René has a daughter, Blade from previous unions. The fourth generation of this family to get involved in the motorsports arena are Jeffery and Bobby.

Kerry had raced race cars in the early 1990s before competing in 1992 driving street stocks. He took home the title of Rookie of the year in 1992 with his performance. East Carolina Motor Speedway and Langley Speedway are some of the tracks that he raced in 1993.
Securing the pole position and the Rookie of the year 1994, at NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series, only propelled his confidence and he initiated his NASCAR journey in the Busch Series, Myrtle Beach (1998). He also raced ARCA Racing Series 2000 and 2001 and won 4 of his 11 starts, ending with 7 top 5s and 8 top 10s.
Kerry’s Winston Cup debut (2000) was the ride of his life. It’s not every day that you get to race your legend of a father and your half-brother (Dale Earnhardt Jr. in Kerry’s case) in your debut race. He scored the first of his seven Winston Cup starts, after dismantling out of the race on the fifth lap.
In 2001, it was made known to the world that Earnhardt would run the entirety of the Busch series (one of his two complete series of NASCAR‘s top three series) (2002) for FitzBradshaw Racing. During 2002 and 2003, he ventured into many Winston Cup races but failed to get through for any. During 2004 and 2005, Kerry competed in six Cup Series races.
Kerry joined Billy Ballew Motorsports in the place of Shane Hmiel in 2005 and procured the pole position for Florida Dodge Dealers 250.
