Flavor Flav Personal Life

Flavor Flav’s rapping and music career began with the establishment of the infamous “Public Enemy” band along with Chuck D in late 1985 with Chuck D as the Lead singer and Flavor Flav as the Hype Man of the Band.
Flavor Flav was the musician and the Hype Man for the “Public Enemy” band. His catchphrase “Yeah, boyeeeeee” became more famous than him. The audience enjoyed seeing Flav on stage.
He decided “Flavor Flav” to be his stage name in accordance with his graffiti tag. He believed the name completely justified his persona and his attitude.
In 1985, the band went on to release “Public Enemy #1”. That song became an instant hit and was appreciated by fans. The duo became an instant sensation.
Rick Rubin of “Def Jam Records” got a hold of the new duo. Initially, he didn’t understand the contribution of Flavor Flav to the group but Chuck D insisted on signing the band together and not him alone.
The “Public Enemy” was finally signed to “Def Jam Records” under Rick Rubin’s execution.
In 1987, the debut album of Public Enemy “Yo! Bum Rush the Show” was released. The role of Chuck and Flav was very clear. While Chuck served as the Serious one, Flav added Comic elements to the album.
In 1988, with the release of “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back”, Public Enemy rose to fame and prominence and went on to become a household name.
In 1989, Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” was released. By the time of its release, Public Enemy was already the superstar.
Though Chuck D was the Frontman of the band, Flavor Flav was a fan favorite.
He is well known for his unique sense of style and his catchphrase which excited the audience. His signature look with baggy clothes, big hats, funky glasses, and his signature Clock hanging from his neck made the public love him.
Flavor Flav’s first real rap song was “Life of a Nigerian”. Even though “Life of a Nigerian” was his first solo song, “911 is a Joke” is his first ever superhit solo rap.

Sadly, Flavor Flav left Public Enemy in 2020 following a disagreement with the other members of the Band.
