Birdman Personal Life
Birdman had a very rough childhood, and he lost his mother Gladys at the tender age of 5 and referenced her in multiple songs. Unfortunately, he suffered multiple losses in his life after that as well. His father too had died in a car accident.
But he had a family by his side and had ten brothers and twelve sisters. His stepbrother Eldrick Wise, who was close to him, was murdered in an unsolved murder in the 90s and his sister was killed in a car accident in 2006. He engaged Toni Braxton after daring for two years. They called off their engagement 1 year later but now has been confirmed they are still together.

Birdman, after his release, found something which took him on the right path. A new sub-genre of music named – hip hop.
It got popular in all the clubs in New Orleans and this attracted these young boys founding something to belong and they quickly jumped into the market. They planned on opening their own record label “Cash Money record”
They visited nightclubs to gather local artists and DJs like Kilo G and DJ Mannie Fresh. Their efforts were paid for, but only at a local level. They gained local popularity in New Orleans. They signed young artists like “Baby D” and “Lil Doogie”. Even though they were a small company, it suffered a lot of setbacks. They lost their artists for financial issues and a few of the artists were murdered in the mid-90s.
The small label had two artists who changed their names from Baby D and Lil Doogie to Lil Wayne and B.G. Two new artists were hired, namely Turk and Juvenile, and the group Hot Boys skyrocketed to popularity and bagged a $30 million deal with Universal records.
This was a tremendous success and soon followed the era of Big Tymers, albums like How Ya Luv That? and I Got That Work in 2000, and Hood Rich was released in 2002. Their debut album went platinum, and they sold 1 million copies, even their fourth album went platinum, and songs like Still Fly from the album got nominated for a Grammy and peaked in the Billboard Hot 100 at position 11.
Baby then started his own solo career after the departure of Juvenile and B.G. from Cash Money Records. He became the face of the label. He released a major debut album Birdman on November 26, 2002, with a vast array of talented artists featured in them, and then he was unstoppable. The album went gold, and he was being referred to as the “Birdman” so he changed his stage name from Baby to Birdman. Meanwhile, during this time Lil Wayne blew up and both of them became the face of Cash Money Records field the reign of Birdman and Lil Wayne.
They started releasing music together, and the album was named Like Father Like Son in 2006 and peaked 3rd in the Billboard 200, and songs like Stuntin’ Like My Daddy earned them the credit of making the 94th best song in Rolling Stone magazine.
Birdman never stopped producing great songs after that and kept releasing albums and giving a lot of artists who are household names now features like Drake, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Future, 2 Chainz, and many smaller artists over the year. Lil Wayne, with his company Young Money Entertainment, worked with Cash Money Records multiple times in collaboration.
