Career of Ali Wong

Who says that to be successful you have to start in your teens? Ali was in her early twenties (23 to be specific) when she did her first stand-up comedy. Following this, she shifted to New York and began performing as much as 9 times a night.

She starred in 3 episodes of the American tv-show “Breaking In”. In the same year, her name appeared in Variety’s “10 Comics to Watch”.

After this stint, she was featured in a lot of shows including The Tonight Show, and It’s Comedy Underground Show by Dave Attell.

In 2012, she, played the role of Olivia in the comedy series “Are You There, Chelsea?”, airing on NBC. She also starred in the show “Savages”.

A consistent writer for “Fresh Off the Boat” since 2014, she finally got the chance to star in it in 2017. She voiced the character of Maddy in “BoJack Horse” in 2015.

2016 was huge a year for Ali. She got to voice the character of Dana in “Animals” and Betty Bird in “The Angry Birds Movie” (I remember being obsessed with this game…). The same year, Netflix also released “Baby Cobra”, a stand-up special on Mother’s Day, where Wong was seen pregnant with her first child (it’s truly an incredible memory). She amped up 2016 by gracing the runway for the Opening Show in New York Fashion Week.

She also starred as Doris, a series regular in “American Housewife”.

In 2018 while she was pregnant with her second child, her second Netflix special “Hard Knock Wife” was released (Netflix and Pregnancy….a new catch line maybe?). She also voiced characters in “Ralph Breaks the Internet”, and ” OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes”, in 2018 itself.

2019 witnessed her voicing a titular role of Bertie in “Tuca & Bertie”, a role in a Netflix film “Always Be My Maybe”, and a book “Dear Girls: Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets and Advice for Living Your Best Life”, as advice for her little girls to follow once they step into adulthood.

She had a lot going on in 2020. She did a lot of projects including voicing Super Super Big Doctor in ” Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe”.
