Personal Life of Pete Rose
Pete has married twice. His first marriage was with Karolyn Englehardt on January 25, 1964, with whom he has two children, a daughter named Fawn and a son named Pete Rose Jr. The couple separated in 1980.
After this, he married Carol J. Woliung in 1984. With his second wife also he has two children, a son Tyler and a daughter Cara. Their relationship ended in March 2011 when Pete filed for a divorce.
Currently, he is in a relationship with Kiana Kim with whom he engaged in 2011. A reality show named “Pete Rose: Hits and Mrs.” aired on TLC on January 14, 2013, which featured this cute couple showing their life along with Pete’s stepchildren. Career of Pete Rose
Pete started his career as a baseball player and had positions as an Outfielder, First Baseman, and Third Baseman in his career.
He joined the Class AA team to play in the Dayton Amateur League in 1960. Showing how much of a promising player he is, he compiled a batting average of about 626 by playing catcher, shortstop, and second base. With his uncle’s help, Pete signed a professional Contract before turning 19 soon after his graduation with”The Reds”.
Initially, Pete played in the minor leagues for about three seasons and by 1963 he was playing in the major leagues. Being the brilliant he already was, Pete soon was one of the top players and was declared Rookie of the Year. After Pete led the batting in 1968 and 1973 he had already collected 230 career highs.
After playing for a few years for The Reds, he went to the Philadelphia Phillies team and they won the World Series in 1980. In 1984 he started the season with Montreal Expos but went to Cincinnati in mid-season only to make his record hit. 1986 was the year of his retirement as a player.
Pete Is known to have made 4,256 career hits, 3,215 career singles, 14,053 career at-bats, and 3,562 career games played.
After retirement, he had the role of manager for The Reds till 1989. In 1989, there was an investigation by professional baseball’s commissioner on Pete as he was accused of repeatedly betting on sports teams from the mid-1980s, all of which was denied by him. Despite his denial about betting, Pete was banned for life from Major League Baseball after an investigation.
This was a heavy punishment for Pete as he was also banned from being in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Still, his fans admire him because later, in 2004, in his autobiography named “My Prison Without Bars” he admitted to gambling on sports teams and also sincerely apologized for the same. This shows Pete’s courage and willingness to rectify his faults.
In 2014, without violating Pete’s life ban, Bridgeport Bluefish invited him to manage a professional baseball team for a match.
